High School Student Akilah Johnson Wins Doodle 4 Google Competition
Google has proudly announced that Akilah Johnson, an incredibly talented high school student from Washington, DC, has won the Doodle 4 Google competition.
The Internet’s leading search engine site says they received more than 100,000 submissions for this competition, proving just how great this honor was. The winning doodle was a piece titled “My Afrocentric Life,” which pays respect to Black culture with powerful statements, art and representation.
“I grew up learning a lot about my history as an African American. As I grew older, I realized that the black people that came before us has made us into what we are today, so of course I had to include them in my doodle,” said Johnson, who also happens to be the first African American to win the national competition.
