While Barbie has been one of the most recognizable figures for the past twenty years, the Mattel-owned doll company has spent the past ten years working to diversify the collection in many ways that reflects the reality of America. Facing criticism that the doll represents only one type of woman, their newest edition from the BMR1959 collection has perfectly styled baby hairs, lavender and pink bantu knots and stylish door knocker earrings.
The newly released doll starts at $29.99. In case you don’t know, part of the BMR1959 collection, the “BMR” stands for Barbara Millicent Roberts, which happens to be Barbie’s full name. The year 1959 is when the first doll was released.
