LeBron James Wants To Help Youth From His Ohio Hometown Through Education
Although he is still working on bringing a championship ring to his home state of Ohio, LeBron James is catering to his hometown of Akron in other ways.
The NBA star and his LeBron James Family Foundation have partnered with the University of Akron in order to increase opportunities in education for youth.
James has promised to give out full college scholarships to the University of Akron to all students who successfully complete his “I Promise” program.
Students taking part in the program will have to fulfill multiple requirements, with one of the qualifications being a student of an Akron public high school.
Currently, the next group of students who will be eligible for scholarships, which will cover $9,500 a year tuition costs and service fees, are those starting 7th grade this year.
It’s great to see LeBron giving back to the youth and putting on so heavy for his hometown.
