Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Alright’ Inspires High School Scholarship

Kendrick’s “Alright” left a huge impact on people since the police shootings that’s left the African American community on edge. Now, the track is inspiring a better financial future for students.

Oogee Woogee is an organization based in Philadelphia. The group is responsible for starting the “#BeAlright” scholarship, an opportunity posed for students at High Tech High School in New Jersey. (High Tech is the home to Brian Mooney’s English class that used To Pimp a Butterfly as a breakdown for literature books they study in the course.)

The students will get a chance at $1,500 towards tuition or books. One winner will be chosen by making a 2 to 3 minute video showing their talents and explaining the positive aspects of hip hop.
