Hundreds Drive Through Inglewood For a Juneteenth Celebration
Three friends organized this drive by celebration in Los Angeles to celebrate the historic Juneteenth holiday. During this car parade decorated vehicles took the streets through Inglewood to Leimert Park.
Due to social distancing orders this car caravan event was planned to ensure safety, while also providing an opportunity for people to rejoice. Although the event was held in a different way, it still served the purpose of creating a space to celebrate the freedom of Black people.
For those who weren’t able to drive by, the community joined by stepping outside along their route to show their support. Also the event gained a large amount of social media attention and news coverage.
