Top 3 Reasons Why You Need To Join Clubhouse
You may have seen your Twitter feeds rave about a new app that has entered the social media space. This exclusive app is unlike any other on the market.
Clubhouse, a new audio-based social media app, is creating lots of buzz. The exclusiveness of it has everyone from neighbors to celebrities joining the new wave.
Straight out of Silicon Valley, Clubhouse was founded by Paul Davison and Rohan Seth and launched earlier this year. According to CNBC, the app was recently valued at $100 million. This actually says a lot for an app that only has a landing page and not a full website. Clubhouse is also funded by Andreessen Horowitz, a venture capital firm based in Silicon Valley.
Clubhouse users can start and participate in chat rooms discussing topics on a conversational level. However, in order to partake in these convos, one must be invited to join. The app is open for anyone to download but without that golden ticket (invitation to join), you won’t be able to participate in the conversations. With the chats being audio-based, invited members of the chat room can join in or simply listen. After the conversations are done, it vanishes off the platform with no record of it. So what happens in Clubhouse, stays in Clubhouse.
The platform has also been getting plenty of recognition due to some famous names who have joined the platform. Celebrities like Oprah, Chris Rock, E-40, MC Hammer and more serve as a third-party validation to the current greatness of the app. Currently, Clubhouse is in beta, undergoing additional testing. Hopefully, when the app progresses from the beta stage, the invite-only requirement will loosen. However, the invite-only model is what makes the app more appealing. Everyday people mixing and mingling with celebrities, techies, and others alike provides an atmosphere of learning and networking.
So far conversations on the platform have spanned from political issues, careers, natural hair tips, dating, music, COVID-19 – you name it. With all the excitement around the app, one must breakdown the top 3 reasons why Clubhouse is the app to join (that’s if you get invited of course):
- Create a sense of community: As mentioned, users can participate in different chat rooms that discuss various topics all while building a sense of community with folks that have a similar interest in the topic. Outside of participating in chatrooms with familiar topics, users can also join and listen in to topics they want to learn more about. This serves as a perfect way to meet new people to expand your network all in a pandemic.
- Tech for the non-tech – Clubhouse allows users to bring everyday conversations to the platform and discuss them in an innovative way.
- Bringing the Club(house) to your fingertips – With mandated stay at home orders due to the current pandemic, people are finding new ways to stay entertained while social distancing. Clubhouse allows users to connect and virtually socialize, just like you would in an actual club or organization.
So if you’re feeling a sense of FOMO, let’s hope your homegirl or someone in your circle, sends you an invite to the app everyone is raving about. Check out what most are saying about the app below. Also, feel free to share your experience with us on Twitter!
