This hurricane season has been brutal from Texas to the Caribbean. Most recently, Hurricane Maria has left residents of the island of Puerto Rico without food, electricity, water or shelter resulting causing trauma to residents. Despite the lack of immediate aid from the United States government, many have decided to use their platform to deliver help to those in need.
Fame and status however are not prerequisites to lending a helping hand during Puerto Rico’s time of need. There are numerous ways anyone can join these forces or assist on their own with money or tangible items.
Attend The Tidal Benefit Concert
Jay Z’s streaming service Tidal has partnered with with New York Gov. Andre Cuomo’s Empire State Relief and Recovery Effort to charter a plane to deliver necessary supplies to Puerto Rico. This will include water, sanitary supplies and more. Tidal also has announced a benefit concert, where proceeds will go to those effected by Hurricane Maria, Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma. The concert, scheduled to take place in Brooklyn on October 17th will feature performances from Jay Z, Cardi B, Jennifer Lopez and more.

Singer Ricky Martin has launched an online fundraiser for Hurricane Maria relief. The native of Puerto Rico has set a $2 Million goal for his “Hurricane Relief” campaign. Beyonce, no stranger to philanthropic behavior has also announced a new song where proceeds will be donated to victims of Hurricane Maria. Beyonce joined J Balvin and Willy Williams on a remix of song “Mi Gente.”

Somos una Voz created by Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez as a collaborative effort to bring food, medicine, power and communications to the island.
