Watch What You Tweet: Oprah Edition

By Posted on 1 2 m read

There’s an old expression that goes “never ask a question if you’re not ready for the response” and on Sunday it seemed as if Oprah was ready to give one twitter follower a wake up call.

Oprah has been ridiculed by so many of her own kind who believe that she hasn’t done anything for her own people. Those people forget that she has sent 415 Black Males through Moorehouse College, That she opened a up a school for girls in South Africa and the other numerous charities.

Are we at the point where we get upset at someone who gives to those less fortunate then us ourselves? Or take away from what they’ve done because we don’t necessarily see all their actions because of lack of media coverage. Oprah has been one of the mainstays of the black community when it comes to helping out our own. Maybe she isn’t directly helping the projects by giving families cars and money but when it is time for blacks to further their education Oprah is one of the first ones to step up and help pay their tuition.

And the bigger question is what have you done for the progression for your community? Are you just complaining about the fact that no one is coming to help instead of taking matters into your own hands? Are you helping the teens stay in school? Are you doing giving them a positive example to look to? Or are you just sitting around complaining and hoping that someone comes to help you?

What are your thoughts on Oprah’s response?
