Teen queen, pop vocalist and budding film star Demi Lovato has been really making philanthropic moves recently and she’s not letting anything, not even her own birthday stand in her way!
This month Demi turned 21 and instead of having some swanky, tabloid fodder birthday like the majority of her contemporaries, she voyaged to the continent of Africa to work with the Free The Children foundation. Free The Children focuses on empowering youth to affect change locally and globally. Along with appearing on a celebrity edition of The Price Is Right to raise money for the children, Demi spent her 21st birthday doing community service work alongside other Free The Children supporters and received a special birthday surprise from some of the children and families she worked with. Check out the video below!

“This trip has been such an amazing experience. Yesterday was the best birthday of my entire life!!!” – said Demi in the caption for the photo of her cutting her birthday cake. Way to go Demi, Live Civil supports your efforts in creating change!
