Alicia Keys is using her voice not to sell records, but to support changes in the criminal justice system.
According to MaseTV, the singer-songwriter has launched a social justice campaign to helps end mass incarceration among Black men called “We Are Here”.
The criminal justice reform became a hot topic earlier this year, when President Obama raised it as a national priority.
Keys tells the news outlet, “Too many families – and our communities – are being destroyed by mass incarceration. We need policy reforms that can keep people out of prison who don’t need to be there, and ensure that our justice system helps to heal communities, families and individuals.”
