HBO is set to release a docuseries on the life of tennis legend Serena Williams. The project titled Being Serena will exhibit a personal outlook the life of Williams as she became one of the greatest athletes of all time.
The intimate series will show aspects of her career as well as her 2017 wedding to Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit as well as the birth of their daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.
“HBO is honored to work with Serena Williams on such a personal project,” said executive vice president of HBO Sports Peter Nelson. He continues “Even though she has been in the spotlight since her teenage years, Serena continues to capture the imagination.”
Being Serena will allow fans a first-hand view point of the life of Serena Williams. This includes never before aired materials detailing her start in tennis, her career highs and lows, her pregnancy and return to the court.
The first episode of the five-part series airs May 2nd on HBO at 10pm and the following wednesdays until the series is complete The series will also be available on HBO Now, HBO Go, HBO On Demand and partners’ streaming services.
