If you’re usually not too keen on the idea of reboots of classic ’90’s films, you may want to reconsider. Girls Trip writer Tracy Oliver and Paramount Pictures are teaming up for a remake of the classic 1995 film Clueless.
The original movie, directed and written by Amy Heckerling, starred Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, and the late Brittany Murphy. It centers on Cher (Silverstone), a rich, pretty, and popular Beverly Hills high school student, who is dealing with the ups and downs of teenage life.
According to Deadline, Marquita Robinson is set to write the script. Robinson’s resume includes being a writer on the Netflix comedy series GLOW and Amazon Prime’s Survivor’s Remorse. Tracey Oliver took to Twitter to express her excitement to be involved with the project and working alongside Robinson.
“Crazy excited to be producing a *new* take on one of my favorite movies of all time, #Clueless, with the hilarious and super talented @MarqRobinson writing it! As if,” she tweeted.
As of now, the film does not have an official release date or cast. However, can we take a minute to appreciate the Black Girl Magic involved with this project?
