Beyoncé and mother Tina Knowles-Lawson will be offering their support during the coronavirus pandemic in their hometown Houston. This Mother’s Day weekend Beyoncé and her initiative BeyGOOD will be teaming up with Tina’s new “I Did My Part” initiative. The initiative plans to promote COVID-19 testing in minority communities in Houston. Free test kits, personal protective equipment and household supplies will also be provided.
The #IDIDMYPART Mobile Testing Relief unit is scheduled to take place in Houston on Friday, May 8, and Saturday, May 9. Administered by the United Memorial Medical Center in Houston, medical staff will administer 500 tests at Cullen Middle School and an additional 500 tests at Forest Brook Middle School on Saturday. Houston residents will also receive a gift card from BeyGOOD that can be used at H-E-B Grocery stores and vouchers for hot meals at two local restaurants, Frenchy’s Chicken and Burns Original Bar-B-Q.
Tina has now challenged her celebrity friends to contribute their part, with Tyler Perry in Atlanta, Octavia Spencer in Mississippi and Magic Johnson in Detroit.
