“That Pain Does Not Go Away” Sheryl Underwood Opens Up About Her Husband’s Suicide

By Posted on 0 2 m read

This week has been nothing but sad and a wake up call for many people. On Monday, June 5, 2018 we lost Kate Spade, an icon in the fashion industry and just a few days later on Friday June 8, 2018, we lost CNN host and celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain to suicide. During Wednesday’s episode of “The Talk” co-host Sheryl Underwood reveled that she lost her husband by suicide, a just like Kate Spade did, he left a note, so she understands what Kate Spade’s daughter is going through.

“I’m kind of emotional about this because as you know my husband killed his self,” says Underwood.

“You will never know, for people who think they know, you will never know. You will never know if its clinical depression, you’ll never know if it’s a financial stress, you will never know.”

Later, she turned her attention to Spades daughter, Frances Beatrix Spade , encouraging her to seek counseling.

“I’m sad for her daughter for that to be in the note because mu husband left a note and what they note does to the person who is still alive is it shows that the person who is no longer alive has now had the final word. There’s nothing you can do about it now and that pain does not go away.”

“So I really hope that the family can come together for her daughter because it just doesn’t go away. So for people that need help they need to get the help that they need and for those that are left behind you get help also.”

According to reports from TMZ, Underwood’s husband killed himself in 1990 after they had been married for three years.
