The South Carolina born actress Teyonah Parris continues to expand her on-screen career. Parris has most recently been casted in new CBS original drama pilot “Murder.” Teyonah Parris is set to play the role of the lead detective in this crime series.
The show, shot as a true crime documentary, focuses on the various perspectives of everyone effected by crime. “Murder” takes place in New York City and explores crtime through multiple and often times conflicting viewpoints of the police, the criminals, the witnesses and the victims. The series will allow viewers to follow an investigation from beginning to end, allowing them to judge whether the suspect will be found guilty or innocent.
Teyonah Parris will assume the role of Det. Ayana Lake, whose career with the NYPD steadily rises as she solves sometimes difficult crimes. Her sharp and analtytic mind arm her with the ability to think fast however she and her partner Det. Jack Garrity, an intellectual, do not always see eye to eye.
While this may be one of her biggest roles, Teyonah Parris can add “Murder” to an already impressive resume. Parris, who has starred on the big screen in films such as Chiraq and Dear White People as well as on the silver screen in shows such as Mad Men and Empire.
