Taylor Swift shows her love for the state of Louisiana by donating $1,000,000 to Lousiana flood relief following the disastrous storms. The torrential rains and massive flooding have displaced over 20,000 residents from their home and killed 11 people thus far. Swifts’ love for her Louisiana fans stems from the way the state made her feel during her 1989 World Tour:
“We began [2015’s] The 1989 World Tour in Louisiana, and the wonderful fans there made us feel completely at home. The fact that so many people in Louisiana have been forced out of their own homes this week is heartbreaking. I encourage those who can to help out and send your love and prayers their way during this devastating time.” the singer told the Associated Press.
Louisiana has faced, and is currently facing some of the worst floodings in history. The state has received at least one foot of rain since Friday (8/12/2016), with some areas facing up to 30 inches. An estimated 40,000 homes have been affected, with 30,000 people rescued, according to NBC News.
