Nate Parker plans to make his directorial debut at Sundance with The Birth of a Nation.
The Nat Turner based film circles the great rebellion of Southampton County, Virginia in 1831. With a release at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival, Parker’s goal is to remind communities of the historic event of their African American ancestors.
He recruited a dynamic cast with Gabrielle Union, Armie Hammer, Aja Naomi King, and many more to tell the story of their fight for freedom.
Now even though there isn’t a trailer, check out some pictures from the film below to get a taste of what’s to come January 21-31.
