Exclusive: Speech From Arrested Development Talks Victory Spot & What’s Next For The Group

By Posted on 0 3 m read

Speech is one of the members of the alternative hip-hop group Arrested Development that made their debut into the rap scene in 1991. Their hits like “Mr.Wendel”, “Tennessee” and “People Everyday” set them a part from many of the rappers and groups during that time.

AD, a short nick-name for the group, have been awarded the NAACP Image Award and Soul Train Award in the past for their soulful lyrics and unique sound. They also were the first and last rap group to win a Grammy for Best New Artist Award.

Speech not only served as a dedicated member and leader of AD but he also had his own solo career. He released a few albums, has written a book and even did a Ted Talk recently.

Outside of music Speech and his wife Yolanda recently opened Victory Spot, which is an arts complex in Georgia that provides classes for those interested in writing, acting, vocal training, music and more. It’s clear that giving back is something Speech cares deeply about.
