#StealTheFear: Iman Shumpert Will Donate Money/Time For Each Steal To Organizations Fighting Against Police Brutality

With the recent deaths of Terence Crutcher and Keith Lamont Scott, the war between the police and the people doesn’t seem to be getting any better. As citizens of this country, we wonder what possibly can we do at this point to see change.

Yesterday, Iman Shumpert posted a picture on Instagram of his beautiful daughter Iman Tayla Shumpert Jr. posing a question that a lot of us are struggling with during this hard time. How do we explain to the next generation, our innocent children why fear is associated with the police instead of safety?

Take a good look at my daughter Iman Tayla Shumpert Jr. The moment she was born was the day I saw the world a lot different. All day I wonder how can I raise her the right way and teach her the right lessons, I can’t explain to her what’s going on these days between the badge and the people. The badge was made to protect us, not scare us.” – Iman Shumpert

In efforts to contribute to the fight against police brutality, Shumpert then announces his #stealthefear movement.

“For each steal, I’m going to donate money and time towards a foundation(s) striving to improve the struggle between the badge and the citizen. I challenge all sponsors and athletes to match these proceeds to contribute to the cause helping families affected by all the killings leaving families and communities traumatized.” – Iman Shumpert

Shumpert also explains why he will no longer be taking a knee during the national anthem with no disrespect or disregards to Colin Kaepernick,

“As big as an awareness Kap has raised by taking a knee and the bravery it took for so many to follow I also understand those that fought for that flag have nothing to do with whats going on in our society today and I no longer believe taking a knee is the answer. This news makes me sick and I am challenging myself to make a difference!” – Iman Shumpert

Kaepernick has opened up the door for many athletes to use their voice and platform to make a difference in their own way, a true leader. Shumpert also took to twitter to let Kaepernick know he is ready and willing to work together to make something happen to help the state of our nation and the families and communities affected by racism and injustices. Teamwork, makes the dream work. #stealthefear #steal #weprayforpeace
