Adding to the long list of celebrities contributing to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts, Solange Knowles announces a series of benefit concerts for various charities and organizations in Houston.
The “Cranes In The Sky” singer is one of several artists to step up and raise funds for victims of the devastating Hurricane Harvey that has left many without food, water or shelter. On her Instagram, Solange says the proceeds from her upcoming show at Boston’s Orpheum Theater, September 28th, will be donated to organizations on the ground in Houston, where many residents are experiencing Hurricane Harvey trauma.
I will be doing a special "Orions Rise" show in Boston, and ALL proceeds will go towards Hurricane Harvey Relief. I'm committed to partnering with organizations on the ground in Houston and making contributions to uplift the city that raised me with so much love. See you September 28th Boston, I thank you in advance for making this a special meaningful night !
The Boston show is not her only effort to raise funds for her hometown. A follow up Instagram post expressed the R&B soul singer will add an additional Radio City show where $3 from each ticket sale will be dedicated to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.
Solange joins celebrities such as Kevin Hart, her sister Beyonce, Oprah Winfrey and Sandra Bullock, among others, who have all made public and private donations to organizations providing support to victims of Hurricane Harvey. According to CNN, the devastating hurricane brought over 50 inches of rain, causing dangerous flooding, infrastructure issues and a current report of at least 37 deaths.
With so many negative things happening in the world these days, it’s refreshing to see the country come together at a time of need.
