Coming in second place on RuPaul’s hit series Drag Race was only the beginning of Peppermint’s career. The New York favorite has gone from capturing fans on television to dazzling them live on stage. Her next stop on Broadway makes history for theater and the LGBT community.
With her leading role, Peppermint becomes the first transwoman to create a principal role on Broadway. Head Over Heels a musical inspired by 16th- century romance features music by The Go-Go’s and will play the Hudson Theatre. The story includes romantinc elements, familial drama and a mysterious prophecy. The Go-Go’s, the first all woman band who wrote their own music and played their own instruments 1980’s hits provide the musical with an essential pop-rock sound.
Peppermint’s landmark role will be her Broadway debut. She is joined by Rachel York, Jeremy Kushnier, Alexandra Socha, Taylor Iman Jones and Bonnie Milligan on the principal cast list. Others include Sharon Catherine Brown, Justin Prescott and Tanner Ray Wilson. Head Over Heels made it’s world premeier at the Oregon Shakespear Festival, summer 2016 and is projected to hit the Great White Way June 2018.
