Oprah, Beyoncé and More Set For Hurricane Harvey Relief Telethon

The unprecedented damages wreaked by Hurricane Harvey on Houston and surrounding areas has provoked the spirit of philanthropy across the country. Many celebrities such as Solange and James Harden have made efforts to provide funding for communities damaged by Hurricane Harvey.

Well, this Hollywood support continues as many A-List stars including Oprah and Beyonce announce the Hurricane Harvey Relief Telethon.

“Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Harvey Relief” is set to air on September 12th, at 8 p.m. E.T.  and will span several networks including ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC. The telecast will also stream on online platforms including Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. “Hand in Hand” the idea of Houston rapper Bun B and SB projects, Scooter Braun to provide funding directly to charitable organizations.

“Hand In Hand: A Benefit For Hurricane Harvey Relief” will be broadcast from stages in New York City, Nashville and viewers will watch performances, tributes and messages of hope from the star studded talent list. Beyoncé and Oprah are joined by Julia Roberts, George Clooney, Barbra Streisand, Adam Sandler, Kelly Rowland, Jamie Foxx and more. Country music icon George Strait will also be performing at the event.

The funds collected during the one-hour telethon will benefit the following organizations, listed from the official press release:

United Way of Greater Houston, Habitat for Humanity, Save the Children, Direct Relief, Feeding Texas and The Mayor’s Fund for Hurricane Harvey Relief (administered by the Greater Houston Community Fund) through the Hand in Hand Hurricane Relief Fund managed by Comic Relief USA.
