What a honor it would be to have Ne-Yo as your principal. Well, for the students at The High School of Fashion Industries, this was their reality on Tuesday, April 14.
Singer-songwriter Ne-Yo partnered with Get Schooled to serve as “Principal for the Day” at The High School of Fashion Industries in Chelsea to recognize students for leading the Capital One Bank NYC College Challenge. The students were recognized for having the highest rate of FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) completion among seniors and participation in Challenge activities among all students.
As principal, Ne-Yo mixed and mingled with staff and students and participated in a school-wide assembly where more than 1,700 students were present. He answered questions and willingly shared his experience in the music industry. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of pursuing higher education. Radio personality and DJ, Angela Yee served as the emcee for the assembly and also shared her experience in the music industry.
Toward the end of the assembly, The High School of Fashion Industries was officially recnized as the winners of the Capital One Bank NYC College Challenge which encouraged student ambassadors to lead efforts that pushed their classmates to apply to college and for financial aid.
Ne-Yo then took to his Instagram to share his amazing experience with his followers.
