New Collective, ‘Black Artists for Black Lives’, to Release Single and Video
Black Artists for Black Lives (BAFBL) was created following the murder of Ahmaud Arbery as a response to the racism and violence afflicted upon Black people.
Dr. Alexander Lloyd Blake reached out to singer/songwriter Danielle Withers. The both of them then created a project with over 50 arrangers, singers, instrumentalists, audio engineers, and video editors.
Dr. Blake stated “This project became more than just a musical outlet; it became a way for the Black community to console and heal each other.”
This collective also has the goal of shinning light on Black creatives and excellence by fighting preconceived notions that African America artists are only successful in certain genres/roles.
Danielle Withers said, “BAFBL showcases the myriad of Black creatives in the industry. We want to use our gifts as resources to uplift communities everywhere while connecting with the organizations involved in fighting racial inequality and injustice.”
