Rapper Nas has partnered with The General Assembly for this latest initiative, “The Opportunity Fund”. The primary goal of this new venture is to provide minorities with financial support to take advantage of opportunities in the field of technology.
It was reported that Microsoft, Google, Hirepurpose and Nas were the first to sign up as financial backers for this new initiative. In an effort to provide more targeted support, each investor is taking on a specific demographic. Google will sponsor women, Microsoft will support veterans, and Nas will focus on Latinos and African American.
“This is the start of what hopefully will be a contribution to what will be a more diverse and accessible community worldwide,” GA CEO Jake Schwartz shared with Betabeat.
