First Lady Michelle Obama has been very vocal about her “Let Girls Learn” initiative that highlights the importance of education for women and girls around the world.
On a multiple occasions Mrs. Obama has expressed that the lack of educational opportunities for girls around the world is a global crisis that needs to be addressed right now. In a recent essay for The Atlantic our First Lady sets the stage with a simple fact, “Right now, 62 million girls worldwide are not in school.”
In the essay Mrs. Obama goes on to explain her individual efforts to handling this crisis and encourages reader to support to movement as well. It is her primary duty to make the world aware that we are better when the women of our world are educated and equipped with tools to succeed.
“As a first lady, a mother, and a human being, I cannot walk away from these girls, and I plan to keep raising my voice on their behalf for the rest of my life. I plan to keep urging world leaders to invest in their potential and create societies that truly value them as human beings.”
