Law & Order SVU is undoubtedly seeking to go down in history as one of the most timely and controversial television shows in recent history. Notorious for ripping storylines directly from headlines, SVU covered the highly publicized Chrihannagate earlier this year and now it seems they’ll be debuting an episode which follows the events of the Trayvon Martin trial.
The New York Daily News reported the following in regards to actress Cybil Shepard being seen on set this past Tuesday in NYC.
In the scene, as Shepherd and her legal team try to leave the court, they’re swarmed by a gaggle of reporters and confronted with angry people waving signs similar to the ones seen at dozens of rallies held in honor of Martin over the last year.
Trayvon Martin was killed in February of 2012, which garnered an unprecedented response from the masses in pop culture and support through social media. After the courts ruled George Zimmerman not guilty back in July, it literally set the streets ablaze as a stunned public headed out in angry protest of the shocking verdict.
The last go ’round Law & Order took a bit of creative license with their interpretation so it’ll be interesting to see how this plays out vs. what we all know to be true. I’m sure you’ll be tuned in like us!
