Keke Palmer recently partnered with P.S. ARTS to unveil a Jesse Owens mural designed by students at Warren Lane Elementary in Los Angeles.
The mural was a tribute to the late Olympian who, despite racial segregation and the countless odds set against him, became the first American track and field athlete to win four gold medals and maintained a 48-year-long record for gold medal wins.
Warren Lane Elementary works with local partners, such as P.S. Arts, to provide its students with community engagement opportunities that incorporate intensive arts education. The mural emphasized the athlete’s motivational message, ““In order to make dreams come into reality, it takes determination, dedication, self-discipline and effort.”
Take a look at the mural above and let us know what you think.
