Janelle Monáe is showing us that she can do it all and clearly shows no signs of slowing down. The Moonlight and Hidden Figures actress has signed a first-look production deal with Universal Pictures through her Wondaland Pictures production company. The announcement was made on Monday (Nov. 19).
According to Shadow and Act, Wondaland and Universal Pictures will develop content spanning various genres, amplifying marginalized voices and underrepresented perspectives.
“There is an exciting, artistic revolution taking place in our industry, and Janelle and the talented team at Wondaland are at the forefront,” says Donna Langley, chairman of Universal Pictures. “Their forward-thinking, inclusive approach to content and storytelling make them a perfect fit for our studio.”
A few of Monáe’s upcoming projects include Universal Pictures drama Welcome To Marwen, as well as the upcoming Harriet Tubman biopic Harriet and a live-action remake of the 1955 film Lady and The Tramp.
Is there anything Janelle Monáe can’t do?
