James Harden, point guard for the Houston Rockets, will donate $1 million to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts, adding to the lengthy list of celebrities and athletes getting involved.
Harden paid a visit to the George R Brown Convention Center, a center in downtown Houston where many displaced from Hurricane Harvey have found shelter. It was then when James Harden met with Houston mayor, Sylvester Turner, and announced Harden’s $1 million pledge to help rebuild Houston.
“I just want to donate and give back to the community as much as I can. I’m going to donate a million dollars to the city, to the areas that need it and to people that need it, to make the city stronger,” Harden says regarding his donation.
“This is home for me,” remarks James Harden. Harden pledged his $1 million to Mayor Turner’s “Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund”. Harden’s charitable efforts in Houston did not begin with Hurricane Harvey. 3 The Harden Way Inc., the basketball player’s foundation, hosted the inaugural JH-Town Weekend in August where a charity basketball game where hundreds of children received school supplies and more.
Our thoughts and prayers continue to stay with the city of Houston during this tragedy.
