Howard University Student Allyson Carpenter Makes History in Nation’s Capital

By Posted on 0 1 m read

While many college students are figuring out what they’re doing for the rest of the summer, Allyson Carpenter is making history!

A sophomore, Political Science major at Howard University, Carpenter was recently elected to the Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) for Ward 1 in Washington, DC. This achievement makes Carpenter the youngest elected official in the history of Washington, D.C.

Allyson also holds positions as Chief of Staff of the Howard University Student Association and serves as a Leadership Intern for the Office of the City Administrator. During her term, Carpenter plans to actively strengthen the relationship between Howard University and neighboring communities.
