Barack and Michelle Obama spent their MLK Day yesterday (Jan. 16) giving back to Jobs Have Priority Naylor Road Family Shelter in D.C. They donated a swing set, also known as “Malia and Sasha’s Castle” on Monday during their visit. Malia and Sasha’s Castle resided outside of the oval office for eight beautiful years.
They were greeted with a warm welcome, filled with joy and laughter by the children who had already been playing on the swing. The first lady became a big kid and took a spin on the green ball hanging from a rope.
The swing set has been a part of the White House since March 2009 and was a surprise for Malia and Sasha. The swing is the ultimate set for a playground, it features a swing, a slide, a climbing wall, binoculars, a rope latter, a tire, and yellow parallel bars.
In addition to donating the swing set and spending time with the kids at the shelter, POTUS and FLOTUS also helped paint an incredible mural of the late great Martin Luther King Jr. to help commemorate him on his special day.
With just a few days left in office, President Obama and First Lady Michelle are continuing to show us what’s truly important.
