Hennessy Partners With Pyer Moss To Highlight World Cycling Champion Marshall Taylor

As Hennessy continues their Wild Rabbit campaign, the premium cognac brand has partnered with fashion label Pyer Moss for MMT 140. The pair will be honoring the legacy of African American cyclist, Marshall “Major” Taylor with a five-piece collection.

In 1899, Marshall Taylor became a world cycling champion. According to Biography, he collected awards from all around the world including Australia, Europe and, North America. This makes Taylor the second African American world champion athlete after bantamweight boxer George Dixon. Spending most of his career achieving global athletic success and breaking racial barriers, Marshall Taylor’s legacy is an important one to highlight.

Pyer Moss founder Kerby Jean-Raymond tells Essence of his excitement for the Hennessy collection.

“Our work always focuses around exploring the contributions of African-Americans and their space and their place in emerging society,” he said. “So this is right up my alley, and it was something that excited me when I heard about the story.”

MMT 140 will be a five-piece Taylor-inspired collection, which you can shop here. A percentage of the collection’s sales will go to the Marshall “Major” Taylor Higher Education Scholarship Fund established by The National Brotherhood of Cyclists.
