Hanna Herbst is the youngest kid to ever become America’s Top Young Scientist.
The 15-year-old teen was recently crowned the title, as she worked to create an innovative prototype to help developing countries tap energy from ocean currents. Thanks to her talent, Herbst was named the winner of the 2015 Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge.
The ninth grader from Florida competed alongside nine other middle school finalists, and said the idea for her innovation came from one of her friends who lives in Ethiopia, Africa.
NDTV mentions that the teen was also awarded $25,000 and a student adventure trip to a destination of her choice.
Congratulations, Hanna Herbst on becoming the youngest scientist!
