First Lady Michelle Obama Celebrates Launch of Open eBooks App

After months of work, the First Lady is finally welcoming the launch of the Open eBook app.

Michelle Obama is big on education. That’s why her newsiest baby caters to everyone, but especially students! The digital library is compiled of thousands of award winning reading material pieces equal $250 million dollars worth.

The project, which was mentioned back in July, was a combined effort with First Book, Digital Public Library of America, The New York Public Library and technical support from digital book distributor Baker & Taylor.

Besides Michelle’s White House announcement you can watch below, there’s also a campaign to look forward to in the upcoming months featuring Shaquille O’Neal and Taye Diggs.

For more information on Open eBooks, visit the site here, and remember in the words of President Obama:

“No matter who you are, where you live, or how much money you’ve got, you should be able to access the world’s knowledge and information just like anyone else.”
