You are known for your ability to embrace your skin condition and soar in the fashion industry in such a short period of time. How was that rapid transition truly been for you?
Winnie Harlow: What appears like a rapid transition from the outside was really a point in time that all my years of efforts started working in my favour. But when I did finally get to that point I was truly thankful that I was given the opportunity to develop my career as a model.
What did you want to be when you were younger? Do you still have plans to pursue that path?
WH: I wanted to be an Entertainment Journalist – I don’t have any immediate plans to pursue that career but who knows what the future holds. Maybe you’ll see me on your TV screen soon!
You are a huge inspiration to girls around the world. Who inspires you and why?
WH: My Mother – She has been such a positive and supportive influence in my life. Watching her go through her struggles while still supporting our family gave me a strength I will never lose
What keeps you going when you feel like giving up most? Quotes? Routines? Mantras?
WH: Everyday is exciting to me. I mean of course we all have down days but giving up is not an option. I want to much out of life to quit. I do a lot of meditating, working outs, and reading books that inspire me to be the best person I can be.
How does it make you feel that you’re now famous for something you once struggled with?
WH: I don’t think I’m famous for my skin. I think that is a part of my story. But whatever reason it is I’m very happy to be doing what I am doing and touching lives around the world.
