This year the 3rd Annual ESSENCE Black Women In Music will be honoring artists Solange and Lianne La Havas in a ceremony held during Grammy week. Kelly Rowland and ESSENCE Editor- In-Chief  Emil Wilbekin, will be hosting the event on February 6th where the two honorees will also be performing. Previous years’ ceremonies have included this year’s host Kelly Rowland, as well as Sylvia Rhone, Mary J. Blige, and Janelle Monae.

Of Solange, ESSENCE notes her growth as an artists and her continued effort to bring a fresh new sound to music, as demonstrated in her recently released single Losing You, and the critically acclaimed mixtape that spawned it, True. With Lianne La Havas, The LA Times said that she’s a “natural talent with boundless potential whose charisma is matched only by her prowess.” Both artists have been heating up lately and we’ve included some of their most recent work for your listening pleasure.
