By Posted on 1 1 m read

In preparation for their 7th Annual Black Women In Hollywood Luncheon, Essence Magazine recently released their list of influencers who will be presenting this year. Among the list are Sidney Poitier, Oprah Winfrey, Alfre Woodard, Kerry Washington, David Oyelowo, Spike Lee, Tonya Lewis Lee and Danai Gurira. Definitely all major players in their respective fields, they will be presenting awards to Oscar-nominated actress Lupita Nyong’o, Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences President Cheryl Boone Isaacs and award-winning director/writer Ava DuVernay.

This year’s Black Women In Hollywood luncheon bears another significance in that it will also be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the signing of the Civil Rights Act. TO commemorate this, the luncheon will be paying tribute to legendary performers who served as champions of the Civil Rights Movement including Nichelle Nichols, Jim Brown, Denise Nicholas and Clarence Williams III.

The festivities will take place next Thursday February 27th, with red carpet event coverage on which you don’t want to miss, especially with celebs like Kelly Rowland, Angela Basset, Regina King, Brandy Norwood, Gayle King, Loretta Devine and more on the list! And not to be left out, Essence will be hosting another event the day prior to celebrate the Black Men of Hollywood. This event will be hosted by none other than Tracee Ellis Ross and Tyler Perry! Be sure to tune in both days to at 1:30p EST to be a part of the celebration!
