Dove Changes The Game, Launches Curly-Haired Emojis

The global personal care brand Dove has just changed the emoji game by launching the never-before-seen curly-haired emojis. Unilever, Dove’s parent company, noticed that prior to their launch, there were no curly-haired emojis on the e-streets. To fill that void, and to also promote their new Dove Quench products for women with curly hair, Unilever has officially launched the Dove Love Your Curls Emoji Keyboard.

Here’s what Rob Candelino, Unilever’s VP of Haircare Marketing, had to say:

“When 73% of people in this country claim to use emojis every day, they’re very quickly becoming the new currency of communications,” Mr. Candelino said. It was the lacking of curly-haired emojis that forced Unilever’s hand. “We hope to help women see beauty as a source of confidence, not anxiety.”

The Dove Love Your Curls emoji keyboard was developed with Snaps and is available for free on the Apple App Store or Google Play. It currently has 27 curly hair designs with the option to pick the skin tone and hair color; that results in roughly 131 variations. Dove will also partner with Twitter so that each time someone uses a #LoveYourCurls hashtag, a custom Dove Curly Emoji will auto-generate within the tweet, like we’ve seen with other hashtags and brands.
