Oprah Details Hand-Carved Bathtub On ‘The Late Late Show With James Corden’

By Posted on 0 1 m read

What do you get a woman who can afford it all? Well, according to Oprah, it’s anything bath-related.

The Wrinkle In Time actress stopped by The Late Late Show With James Corden, along with co-stars Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling. After revealing that her partner Stedman of 32 years, who recently celebrated a birthday, was not the easiest person to shop for, Oprah also revealed one of her favorite things to receive as a gift. “Bathing is my hobby,” she says. “So any kind of bath salts, bath oils — anything for the bath you can get me.”

It’s not uncommon to assume that everything Oprah owns is ten times the size or the amount of the average person, so when questioned on how big her bathtub is, she admits not only is it big enough to fit a couple of people, but it’s hand-carved out of marble and onyx to the shape of her body!

Black Unemployment Rates Down And No One Is Talking About It

By Posted on 0 2 m read

According to a recent report released by the U.S. Department of Labor, there has been a decrease in the unemployment rate for African Americans for the month of February. The black unemployment rate as a whole has fallen from January’s spike of 7.7% to February’s decline of 6.9%.

The unemployment rate for black men, ages 20 and older, has fallen from 7.5% to 5.9%. The same goes for black women, ages 20 and older, who’s unemployement rate has also fallen from 6.6% to 6.2%. For black teens, ages 16 to 19 years old, unemployment rose from 24.3% to 27.2%. The number of unemployed persons was essentially unchanged for the fifth straight month at 6.7 million (4.1%).

Last month, the U.S. economy added 313,000 jobs, with job gains occuring in construction, retail trade, professional and business services, manufacturing, financial activities, and mining. Employment in other major industries, including wholesale trade, transportation and warehousing, information, leisure and hospitality, and government, showed little change over the month, according to the report.

While employment is rising in the manufacturing and construction industries, President Donald Trump’s announcement to impose stiff tariffs (25% on steel and 10% on aluminum imports), could “put hard-earned economic progress at risk,” according to Center For American Progress economist, Michael Madowitz.

“Today’s employment report shows strong job growth, although the economy is unlikely to be on autopilot much longer. Large tax cuts have yet to create—and are unlikely to create—the kind of long-term, sustainable wage growth that Trump and Congressional Republican leaders promised. Rather, companies are buying back their own shares at a record pace, funneling the lion’s share of the tax cut windfall back to corporate executives and wealthy investors.

Other recent moves from the Trump administration threaten to put hard-earned economic progress at risk. A trade war, sponsored by the president, could very well create significant domestic job losses among the exact communities Trump pledged to help. And on the heels of massive corporate tax cuts, Congress is now proposing another enormous giveaway to Wall Street in the form of financial deregulation. The so-called Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act would deregulate 25 of the largest 38 banks; undermine protections for homeowners and homebuyers; increase the chances that the United States faces another financial crisis and recession; and pose a serious threat to the labor market. At this point in time, when bank profits and lending are at all-time highs, deregulation should be the last thing on the minds of policymakers. Instead, they ought to strengthen financial regulations to weather the next economic downturn.

The longest expansion in modern history has been fairly uneventful the last few years, but given this administration’s actions, we may be about to find out how robust our economy truly when faced with highly questionable policy choices.”

10 Perks of Living The Single Life In Your 20’s

By Posted on 62 2 m read

When I think about how long I’ve been single, I can honestly say that I’m rather impressed. I don’t know how I’ve been able to maintain my sanity as a single millennial for so long, but it hasn’t always been easy. Living in a society that prides themselves so heavily on companionship and relationship goals can sometimes make being single feel unacceptable or frowned upon. However, I learned early on that relationships do not define who we are as people and being in a relationship doesn’t necessarily mean we will be happy. I’m coming up on my seven-year anniversary of living the single life and to be honest, it’s not as bad as it sounds. Let’s just say that it allows me to focus on things that are important to me without any distractions.

We can agree that there are both pros and cons to being single or in a relationship. However, I do believe that there are a lot of misconceptions out here that single people are these unhappy and desperate individuals who long for love they can’t get. No offense to anyone, but relationships aren’t exactly the hardest to get into nowadays.

Front and center are always the misfortunes of living the single life, but I rarely hear anyone talk about its perks. Yes, there are perks to being single — let’s talk about them!

10 Perks of Living The Single Life In Your 20’s

1. You can come and go as you please without having to offer an explanation to anyone of your whereabouts.

2. You can have as many guy friends as you’d like without having to dilute the nature of your friendship.

3. You save money during the holidays that require gift-giving.

4. You don’t have to share. You know, not that I mind sharing.

5. You can make decisions without having anyone to consider, other than your little ones (i.e. job opportunities, last minute plans, etc.).

6. You don’t have to go through the uneasiness or nervousness of meeting his family in hopes that they will like you.

7. You don’t feel pressure to always look red carpet ready, even when you’re not up to it. You know, sometimes you don’t want to have to require any effort.

8. You don’t have to pretend to like his friends or partake in meaningless conversations with them just to make him happy.

9. You can take as much time as you need to focus on yourself without any distractions.

10. You can be as neat or as messy as you’d like without judgement.

What are some of things you love most about being single?
