A Murray State University Student With Down Syndrome Joins School Sorority

By Posted on 3 1 m read

The school season has began and it’s rush week for many universities, and for Alexis Cain joining a sorority was always her dream.

Alexis, who was born with Down Syndrome is a senior at Murray State University in Kentucky and as of last week, she’s become the first person with a disability to join the Beta Nu chapter Alpha Sigma Alpha.

Like any girl who plans to join a sorority, Cain went through the formal recruitment process and was offered a bid on August 20th.

Alexis says, “It felt really good to know that the girls wanted me to join their sorority. They make me feel accepted and really welcomed me into their group already and they feel like the sisters I’ve never had.”

Congratulations Alexis Cain on becoming a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha.

Watch the video above to witness Alexis’ friends and family go wild as she accepts her bid.
